I’ve always said “I’m in it for the cake!” but seriously, what an honor to capture the most epic events in life.
I grew up just north of Appleton with horses & peacocks and a golden retriever roaming freely and a garden fresh dinner most nights. Exploring the country blocks and a lot of yard work shaped my lifestyle.
My parents insisted on traveling often. Every year we would take our motorhome down south or out west, set up camp for the night and walk around meeting all our new neighbors. Perhaps this is why I love meeting people and hearing their stories. I wish I could make a photo documentary of everyone I meet. I think life unites us with certain people for a reason and discovering why is fascinating to me. I believe in living an adventure and enjoy getting lost along the way. WHY PHOTOGRAPHY IS IMPORTANT TO ME
Weddings melt me because of the slew of emotions that fill the day. Quite simply a day we all have every reason to smile about, and love, so… much… love. It’s a dream job. I’m honored to be there to capture all the things you may forget to take in on this crazy day. Many times I photograph with with tears in my eyes. Love is a beautiful unexplainable emotion but it’s a joy to photograph!

As for my own investment in photography, I love capturing my kids’ experiences in life. It makes me wish I had such a vivid documentary of my childhood. One of my favorite things to do is look back on our simplest outings. Be it a day at the beach or picking the perfect holiday tree, there’s a story to be treasured. To be able to share that with you is a heart-warming experience. There is a time and place for posed family photos but the real gem is being able to look back at the honest journey of what shaped you into who you are today. Welcome to Kim Thiel Photography.
