Being a part of this wonderful Appleton community is something we truly embrace. Social awareness and fighting for what people believe in is a special part of Kim Thiel Photography. In direct response to those feelings, Cause & Co. was formed within our business a few years ago as a way for us to not only give back something to our clients but our wonderful community. As we look to gain momentum for our efforts, we are always touched to hear the stories and walk alongside our new friends. That is exactly what we did recently with the event Joy Striding, a fundraiser for the locally founded Joy Rising Project.

Joy Rising, founded in 2011, compassionately provides realistic hair systems to women and children dealing with hair loss due to illness.  Their mission is based around a first hand knowledge that it’s much easier to feel like yourself when you look like yourself, which is very powerful and very true. This recent Joy Striding event was a major fundraiser for the organization,  collectively it was a great success raising over $4,000 to assist those in need. Read more about Joy Rising here.

St. Pete’s Beach Lifestyle Session {a sisters vacation}

I’ll start by saying, trying to go on vacation and leaving all your work and worries behind is pretty tough when you’re photographers at heart.  Images move us, we’re advocates of capturing the seemingly every-day actions we go thru and figuring out how to document the easily forgotten.  It’s obvious to many to get family photos taken or to hire a wedding photographer on that one amazing day, but the images that you’ll be most drawn to in life will be the ones of experiences you had in your daily existence.

Kari and I recently were giving the opportunity to sneak away to reconnect and refresh our souls in the Gulf of Mexico on St. Pete’s Beach, Florida.  Drawing on our affection for live music, we happened upon the perfect beach setting with a gathering of local musicians for a Sunday afternoon drum circle.  The free-spirited energy set the mood for the rest of our vacation and many great memories were had.

We’re often asked how we capture our own memories so, humbly and honestly, here is us at play.  Enjoy.
